Workouts are one thing we all do in our everyday lives, consciously or otherwise. However how we do our workouts and the mentality we have about those exercises, remain the cog in the wheel as to why some of use are not getting expected results.
Below we discuss some issues that could help you get more benefits for your workouts. This is however Ladies tips.Don’t think exercising means you can ignore your diet
We’ve spoken about it before, but it’s enough of an issue that Ginger Ressler mentioned it as the first thing women overlook when they exercise. “It’s 80 percent diet and 20 percent exercise,” she says while pregnant with her fourth child and on the cusp of her maternity leave. “It’s not just about what you’re doing with your body, but also what you’re putting into it. If you are exercising regularly, you need to eat enough to supply your body with the calories it needs so you have enough energy. You have to make great food choices too – you can’t just eat a burger after working out because you ‘earned’ it. Eating lean proteins and fresh fruits and vegetables provides you with the nutrients you need to become stronger, lose weight and boost your metabolism!”
Prioritise yourself
“I think many women out there might feel like it’s not feasible to fit in a workout with everything else they have going on. There is a lot of pressure for women to “do it all,” and a lot of women end up overscheduling and overcommitting themselves, stretching themselves too thin,” says Ressler. “In order to take care of everyone else, you need to take care of yourself first. Prioritise time for yourself and for exercising – put it in your calendar and stick to it. Don’t put off your workout until tomorrow because it won’t get done. It’ll be tough at first, but it gets easier and easier each time you do your workout, and it becomes part of your routine.”
Make exercise part of your lifestyle
“It’s also not a competition between women – everybody and every body is different, so give yourself a reasonable and realistic timeframe to meet your goals. Make exercise and fitness goals a part of your lifestyle. Get to know your body and understand how nutrition and exercise impacts it.”
Slow and steady works
We've all heard about being slow and steady, but it really is worth doing, rather than being hard on yourself. “Goals don’t happen overnight – create short term goals so you’ll achieve small milestones along the way to meeting your long term goals. Another tip is to prepare yourself mentally for the tough days – it’s not going to be easy and inevitably, you’ll have a day when it’s tough to motivate. Know that these days will happen but you can push through.”
